BRIEF HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Maglihe Elementary School was established sometimes in 1940’s. It is located in the western part of the Municipality of Tayasan, approximately 9 kilometers away from the heart of the town. It has a total land area of 10,000 square meters and was acquired through donation by the Luzano and Mahinay families.
The school was the first complete elementary school in the hinterlands and has been catering the whole community even expanding its service to its adjacent barangays.
It began simple and small but the growth is steady and up-to-date. Its school campus provides facilities and its atmosphere is conducive to learning and personality building. In such a setting, dedicated School heads, Faculty and Staff take the task of achieving the DepEd Mission.
Maglihe Elementary School, a public institution is committed to providing quality basic education that is accessible to all.
Special Features of the School
Maglihe Elementary School is the oldest complete elementary school among the schools in the hinterlands of Tayasan District. With the area of 10,000 square meters, the land was acquired in favor of DepEd by donation. It is 9 kilometers away from the town proper. It is hilly land where school buildings stood between two creeks. The people who constructed these buildings have to flatten the surface first before the schools were built. It looks like a school terraces. The school is overlooking the sea. To ensure safety of the pupils, a semi- permanent fence was built around the campus.
Although this is just a small school, it never stays too far behind from other schools regarding the academic and non- academic performances. It has participated in the district competitions.
Majority of the children enrolled here are poor and depend on farming as their means of living. Considering their status of living, the school gives special attention to the indigent children especially during Christmas. They are always recipient of special gifts and Pamasko Regalo. The PTA officials, the barangay officials and the teachers work together not only for the school improvement but also in giving happiness to those who are less fortunate children.
Evidently, whatever programs imposed whether related or not related to Deped the parents and the teachers are always there to support even beyond the call of duty. There is a good relationship among the local population. As a whole, Maglihe Elementary School, with its special features renders services to give quality education to all.
Curriculum
Maglihe Elementary School used and implemented the recent K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum with the DepEd’s task of raising the quality of the Filipino learner. The curriculum includes the following subject areas namely: MTB, English, Math, Filipino, Araling Panlipunan, ESP, and MAPEH for the grades I and II only. Science is added to grade III class and the rest follow the restructured curriculum. Each of the learning areas addresses both the individual and social needs of our learners.
The school utilizes some special programs which address the need to reinforce the reading and comprehension ability of our pupils, thus the National program on ECARP is given emphasis in every classroom with the conduct of School Wide Synchronized Reading Program.

The facilities and resources available in a school contribute a lot to the performance output of the student, teacher and the school as a whole. Adequate facilities and resources in good condition mean better performance of the educational system. The Maglihe Elementary School as far as educational facilities and resources are concerned:

4. Textbooks-enough, some are newly distributed
5. Enough teachers’ manual

Community Profile
Maglihe is one of the 28 barangays of Tayasan Negros Oriental, located 9 kilometers from the heart of the town.
This barangay is hilly in nature and it is overlooking the town.
Farming is the means of livelihood in this place and majority of the residents earn very little every month.
It has a complete set of barangay officials working together for their constituents, assisting the school in the implementation of its programs and projects.
Aside from the school, this barangay also has a pavement, a health center,a day care center located not so far from the school site.
